Gerakas Beach
A long sweep of soft golden sand backed by clay cliffs, Gerakas is one of the most beautiful and most important beaches on Zakynthos.
Part of the National Marine Park, Gerakas is a primary nesting site for loggerhead turtles, so the upper beach is protected and it closes to visitors at night. By day it is calm, shallow and family-friendly, with a laid-back natural feel.
Highlights
- Soft golden sand and shallow, calm water
- Protected loggerhead turtle nesting beach
- Clay cliffs and an unspoilt, natural setting
- Family-friendly and rarely overcrowded
Local tip
Respect the roped-off nesting zones and note the beach closes from dusk to protect the turtles.
