Navagio (Shipwreck Beach)
A rusting smuggler’s shipwreck on a crescent of white sand, framed by towering limestone cliffs and impossibly blue water. Navagio is the postcard of Zakynthos.
The beach itself is only reachable by boat, but the real magic is the clifftop viewpoint that looks straight down onto the wreck and the turquoise cove. It is one of the most spectacular panoramas in the Mediterranean, and sunset here is unforgettable. Go early or late to beat the tour buses.
Highlights
- Clifftop viewing platform over the wreck
- White-sand cove and luminous blue water
- Boat trips depart from Porto Vromi and Agios Nikolaos
- Best light early morning or near sunset
Local tip
Combine the viewpoint with a morning boat trip from Porto Vromi to actually set foot on the sand.
